The Department of Education and Training has been working closely with industry to develop a series of industry snapshots.
Each comprises a brief industry profile and the short and longer-term skilling priorities for the industry.
This month Skills Update focuses on health and community services, where the workforce is older and ageing more rapidly than the labour force as a whole.

TBS Consulting

From 1 January 2010 the Award system will change throughout Australia. All security guards, crowd controllers and control room operators will be covered by the Security Services Award 2010.

This will mean significant changes in some states for wages and conditions. In order to assist with the transition from current practice to the new award ASIAL has been discussing with key industry unions and stakeholders to mitigate the effects of change.

ASIAL will be making a submission for consideration by the Australian Industrial Relations Commission on three most discussed options.  Members are requested to complete the survey below by placing a tick against the one option you most prefer and return to ASIAL no later than Tuesday, 19 May 2009

August Update: NARA and ARED

Aug 04

TBS Consulting

Our August blog includes updates on:

  • NARA
  • AREDv2.1

What is NARA?

NARA, the National Audit and Registration Agency, provides audit and registration services for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that operate in more than one Australian State or Territory.

The National Audit and Registration Agency (NARA) has held meetings with key stakeholders during May and June, with the topic of national consistency in vocational education and training the primary focus of the discussions.

To find out more about NARA and the new move towards consistency click here.

AREDv2.1 – Applications for Rapid E-learning Development

About AREDv2.1

ARED is designed to allow practitioners, with little more than basic computer skills, to easily build their own e-learning resources using six dynamic templates. The templates are based on media-rich interactions that are commonly used in e-learning materials and remove the need for practitioners to learn the multimedia skills commonly required to build such resources.

AREDv2.1 enables practitioners to take their own content, integrate it into a template and publish a fully-functional and engaging e-learning resource they can deliver via CD-ROM, website or learning management system.

Who is AREDv2.1 for?

This resource will be of interest to:

  • e-learning resource and content developers
  • practitioners who would like to easily develop and create educationally sound e-learning resources
  • e-learning resource development managers
